2014 ACI National Home Performance Conference & Trade Show
As part of the 2014 ACI National Home Performance Conference & Trade Show and in the spirit of this year’s theme, Creating a Better America, ACI (Affordable Comfort, Inc.) is seeking in-kind donations of ENERGY STAR appliances, building materials, and equipment for Detroit-based organizations that are working to revitalize the community.
The following organizations have been selected as beneficiaries because of their close ties to ACI’s mission of creating healthy, comfortable, and resource-efficient homes for all.
Greening of Detroit
Greening of Detroit is a nonprofit organization dedicated to Inspiring sustainable growth of a healthy urban community through trees, green spaces, food, education, training and job opportunities. Learn more at www.greeningofdetroit.org.
FOCUS: Hope is a nonprofit, nondenominational organization that aims to overcome racism and poverty through education and training. Learn more at www.focushope.edu.
Write-A-House (WAH) is a Detroit based organization that seeks to teach and support trade crafts and literary creativity. The organization’s key tactic involves leveraging the easy availability of distressed housing in order to promote vocational education, home ownership, neighborhood stabilization, and creative arts. In short, WAH will work to support a more vibrant literary arts community that lives at a grassroots level and helps Detroit’s neighborhoods. Learn more at www.writeahouse.org.
Young Detroit Builders
Young Detroit Builders is a YouthBuild USA-affiliated organization that offers education, support services, counseling, leadership development, job and life skills preparation, on-the-job residential construction training, and NCCER certification. Learn more at www.youngdetroitbuilders.org.
Both in-kind contributions and cash contributions are being accepted. Each beneficiary organization has provided ACI with a “wish list” of desired appliances, building materials, and equipment, which are available at www.affordablecomfort.org/service2014. Cash contributions can be made directly through ACI’s website and the secure online portal through PayPal.
