Young Detroit Builders Receives $30,000 in Grant Funds from Bank of America and Joins Forces in Ongoing Volunteer Partnership

Detroit, MI – Young Detroit Builders (YDB) was awarded a $15,000 Work Force/Education Grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation and proudly announces a renewed, ongoing partnership with Bank of America’s local team of volunteers.

Founded in 1993, Young Detroit Builders is a YouthBuild USA affiliated non-profit organization helping young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 obtain their GED while offering residential construction training, NCCER certification, educational support services, leadership development, life skills and financial literacy.

YDB Students apply their construction training through service projects rehabilitating residential properties and building affordable housing for low-income families in the community.

YDB was selected to receive an additional $15,000 in grant funds though a Bank of America Charitable Foundation pass-through grant with YouthBuild USA. These grants along with Bank of America Community Volunteers help support green building initiatives, community service projects and environmental sustainability projects in Detroit.

Bank of America’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts focus on creating economically vibrant regions and communities through lending, investing and giving. The core principles of its CRS include responsible business practices; environmental sustainability; strengthening local communities through focus on housing, hunger and jobs; investing in global leadership development; and engaging communities through arts and culture. As part of these efforts, employee volunteers across the company contribute their time, passion and expertise to address issues in communities where they live and work.

This partnership is a meaningful investment of financial resources, time and energy, and represents a commitment to rebuilding Detroit through active service within the community.
