About Us
Young Detroit Builders was founded in 1993 for the purpose of assisting low-income young adults to rebuild their lives while rebuilding their communities. To fulfill this mission, we operate two programs serving approximately 150 persons each year.
- YouthBuild Detroit is a 10-month program for low-income Detroit residents between the ages of 18 and 24 who are unemployed and have neither a high school diploma nor a GED certificate. YBD provides training to prepare for GED tests, counseling, life and job skills, and on-site construction training.
- Partnership for Permanent Supportive Housing for the Homeless is a coalition of three Detroit agencies, which provide various services to meet the needs of the city's low-income and homeless population. YDB provides educational and skills assessment, GED preparation, and training in living and employability skills as needed.
